Superhero Celebrated for Life-Saving Organ Donations

July 14, 2022
Mars Bedell

A three-year-old boy is being celebrated as a superhero for his family’s decision to donate his organs. Mars Bedell died on July 5, 2022 after a drowning incident two days before, according to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake.

Mars became a hero like the ones he loved, saving others’ lives through organ donation. Two children and two adults were able to receive his organs and were provided with a second chance at life.

Last Thursday, July 7, 2022, Mars’ family, friends and staff lined the hospital halls to pay tribute to Mars for being an organ donor during his honor walk. His favorite toys were superheroes and so hospital staff and family wore masks and capes to help provide Mars with a special send-off as he went on to save four lives as an organ donor.

LifeGift was honored to partner with HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake to celebrate the life and generosity of Mars Bedell and his family. LifeGift’s Lauren Quinn, vice president of external relations, was interviewed by multiple news outlets for this story.
