Happy 30th Birthday, LifeGift

On Friday, Aug. 18, LifeGift celebrated a birthday.

The organization, formerly known as Gulf Coast Independent Organ Procurement Organization, turned 30 years old.

“For 30 years, LifeGift has offered hope to donor families, transplant recipients and those waiting on a second chance,” said Kevin Myer, president and CEO of LifeGift. “While we have evolved over the last 30 years to meet the changing needs of the communities we serve, one thing has stayed the same: our commitment to saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation.”

2017 Advanced Hospital Development Workshop

Gary Garcia

Date of transplant: 12/6/2016

Received: Liver

Gary's story: "In 2013 I suffered from acute liver failure and was placed on the waiting list for a liver transplant. During the three-year wait, we had to fight hard to make sure I received the care I needed. As a person living with HIV, also in need of a lifesaving organ transplant, we had to find a care team that knew how to work with both conditions.
