Who Do You Run For?
On Saturday, April 22, nearly 500 transplant recipients, donor family members and LifeGift staff gathered for the third annual Houston Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run in Sugar Land, Texas.
Joy for life was in the air as hundreds took off running and walking to raise awareness of our lifesaving mission.
At the conclusion of the event, awards were presented to overall finishers and the largest team. For the second year in a row, Team2Lung, created in memory of Ambassador of Hope and lung recipient Twana Schulz, took home the largest-team award with 77 members. It was a tough competition between Team2Lung and Team Quail Valley, an elementary school in Missouri City, Texas, who built a team of 74. Team Justin, in honor of Justin Stout, a liver transplant recipient and leukemia patient, followed in third place.
LifeGift would like to extend a huge thank-you to all of our generous sponsors and volunteers who helped us put on this successful race!
We’d also like to take the opportunity to remind you of our remaining races for this year:
- Saturday, May 20, is the 15th anniversary of the Fort Worth 2nd Chance Run in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards
- On Saturday, Aug. 5, Lubbock will host its inaugural race at Mackenzie Park
