Every day across the country, more than 79 people receive organ transplants. Countless others receive lifesaving tissue transplants and life-restoring corneal transplants. Even so, hundreds of thousands wait for lifesaving gifts across the country. Every day, 21 people die waiting. The Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run drives awareness to this critical health issue and offers hope to donor families, transplant recipients and those on the waiting list.
Registering is fast and easy at DonateTexas.org and provides a way for people to make their wishes to be an organ and tissue donor known. It also provides legal, first-person authorization for organs to be donated, which removes the burden of decision-making from the family during an already difficult time.
Joining the registry only takes a few minutes online at DonateLifeTexas.org or can be done conveniently when applying for a Texas state ID card or driver’s license. Donation information and resources can also be found on the registry’s website.
