Offering Hope in the Texas Medical Center
On Thursday, April 10 in the Texas Medical Center, life was celebrated and hope was offered. The Texas Medical Center Celebration of Life, “Offering Hope,” was attended by approximately 200 hospital partners, LifeGift staff and volunteers.
Team Texas started off the event by marching in with Transplant Games of America flag, followed by inspirational words from Donna Esposito, co-manager of Team Texas, to get the crowd geared up for the Games in July. The event was emceed by Lizzet Lopez, anchor for KXLN-TV Univision. Speakers included Bill McKeon from the Texas Medical Center; our own Schawnté Williams-Taylor; Dr. Casey Patrick, who lost his mother waiting for a liver transplant; Rodney Berry, kidney/pancreas recipient; Peggy Smith, donor grandmother; and Florencia Quesnel, liver recipient. Joel James, currently waiting for a heart transplant, provided the entertainment.
Participants and attendees at the TMC Celebration of Life took a moment for a group photo shot.
Joel James put on a light-hearted and soulful performance during the event.
