Donate Life Texas Night at the Houston Dynamo
It was almost 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 28. Three-year-old Caleb was a little tired as he had just woken up from his nap.
He didn’t know quite where he was: music was playing and a sea of people wearing orange jerseys surrounded him. It was not until he walked towards the soccer field at BBVA Compass Stadium, home of the Houston Dynamo, when his eyes really lit up. It was the most joyful and playful that we had ever seen him.
Caleb and his mom, Elsy Espinoza, were recognized on the field to celebrate Caleb’s life after his liver transplant. It was, after all, Donate Life Texas Night at the Dynamo. This was a special moment for the Espinoza family, and LifeGift was honored to recognize them in this way.
Our Ambassadors of Hope (LifeGift volunteers) also were a key element of this joyful event. They helped to run a registration table and informed Dynamo fans about organ, eye and tissue donation.
Special thanks to the Houston Dynamo for their collaboration and interaction on their social media platforms and also to our staff and hospital partners who were there to cheer Caleb and the orange jerseys on.
It was a night to remember in the life of a little boy, whose dreams will come true thanks to an organ donor.
