Ashley Driver could breathe again after receiving two new lungs at age 15. No longer held back by her cystic fibrosis, she eventually started college and worked as a certified vet assistant. But in 2009, her body rejected the lungs. Ashley went back on the waiting list for an agonizing 10 months – then received a third chance at life.
“Even if I had the chance to take it all back, being sick and everything, I don’t think I would,” Ashley said. “It has helped me bridge generation gaps and religious prejudices, and helped me change people’s minds on donation. For that I am ever grateful.”
