Record-Breaking Attendance at Fort Worth 2nd Chance Run
The 15th anniversary of the Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run in Fort Worth broke attendance records on an overcast, cool morning in Fort Worth on Saturday, May 20. It was a goal we had been inching towards for nearly four years. In addition to the 1,000+ runners and walkers, there were more than 200 supporters, cheerleaders and volunteers in the race village.
“We are so appreciative of the community for embracing this event,” said Laura Frnka-Davis, managing director of communications. “Our goal with this race is to expand our universe and expose more people to the idea of organ, eye and tissue donation. We are beginning to realize that goal in Fort Worth.”
If the event weren’t inspirational enough with 87 teams running or walking in memory of a loved one or honoring a recipient, this year we added another twist: a donor family/recipient gathering before the race started. Tina Rueles, double-lung transplant recipient and Ambassador of Hope, came face-to-face with the family of her donor, Victoria.
We’d like to thank all of the sponsors and amazing volunteers for all of their generosity and support.
