College Students Unite to Save Lives
Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M University Raise Awareness of Lifesaving Donations
WHAT: Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M University are teaming up with Be The Match, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and Donate Life Texas to raise awareness of the thousands of Houstonians in need of lifesaving donations.
Every day, thousands of people across the U.S., including hundreds in the greater Houston area, are in need of lifesaving blood, bone marrow and/or organ donations. Each university will host “Education Thru Entertainment” on campus in April to call attention to the need for more diverse blood, bone marrow, organ and tissue donors and to shatter the myths associated with each type of donation.
During this “Battle of the Cats,” students will be challenged to see which school raises the most support. “Education Thru Entertainment” will culminate with a lunch forum on each campus hosted by 97.9 The Box, where students will hear from actual bone marrow, blood and organ/tissue recipients and field experts.
