Wishes Still Do Come True…

I used to work in the world of news and was exposed to many people. I couldn’t help but get embedded in their stories. However, working hand -in -hand with people who are waiting for a second chance at life for a transplant; those who have lost and given of themselves and or their loved ones in their own time of loss; and recipients of those donations is a world all of its own.
To say that working with these people makes you appreciative would be an understatement. I personally take on their challenges because it’s just what you do when you meet them.
Most recently, our very own Esmeralda Miranda, heart recipient, was granted the ultimate wish. Just when she thought life could not get better after receiving her new heart this May, she won her ultimate dream wedding of a lifetime from the organization Wish Upon a Wedding.
Her excitement, the light and tears in her eyes as she explains how much she wishes her donor family would attend her wedding, is such an intimate sentiment. I’m grateful to be allowed a front row seat to listen and learn a little more about her world. She hopes to meet them there for the first time, although they have yet to respond to her letters.
In so many ways it’s as if we work for the people. It’s the people that get you out of bed everyday and so desperately want you to help them share their legacy with the world.
One thing is for sure, just when you think life can’t get any better, it does in ways that are unimaginable.
So looking forward to being there as Esmeralda gives the love of her life her new heart!
