
Samuel Miles Holtzman III
President and Chief Executive Officer
Following a 25-year career in hospital administration, Sam Holtzman assumed the leadership of LifeGift in 1997 as president and chief executive officer. Holtzman’s visionary and strong management skills helped make LifeGift one of the nation’s leading organ procurement organizations, thoroughly respected for its pioneering innovations and productivity.
Following a rise up the ranks in Humana, Inc. as vice president and eventually president of hospitals across the country, Holtzman served as president and CEO of the Chicago division of Columbia/HCA, which included oversight of nine hospitals, six surgery centers and two large physician independent practice associations.
Holtzman serves on numerous local, state and national boards and committees, and is the chairman of two committees with the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations. He was a leader in the Illinois Hospital Association, served on the board of governors of the American Federation of Hospitals, and on the legislative committee of the Chicago Metropolitan Council on Health Care. Currently, he represents LifeGift in the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston’s chamber of commerce.
Holtzman received his bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University and served two years with the American Peace Corps in Southern India.
