Record-setting year for LifeGift and partner hospitals

LifeGift and its key hospital partners continued to set records and win awards for organ and tissue donation in Fiscal Year 2008.

During the year, 967 organs were recovered from 301 organ donors. Close to 2,100 tissue donations were recovered, which will help restore sight and treat orthopedic injuries, as well as cancer patients, children with
heart defects and burn victims.

As a result, 11 of LifeGift’s key hospital partners throughout North, Southeast and West Texas received the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Medal of Honor in October 2008 for excellence in organ donation rates.
