On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

So, this is the week of the Chevron Houston Marathon. I have to remind myself why it is that this is all I’m talking about lately. Perhaps the #1 reason is that I’m participating in the “half” marathon.

I’m excited, nervous, anxious and even more nervous. I had no idea it’s the biggest marathon in Houston and perhaps even Texas. People from all over the country and internationally come to Houston to participate in the marathon.

Some people spend months preparing their bodies for a marathon. While this is great, most of the preparation I’ve done is mental and, of course, eating right and the occasional walk to get my body “somewhat” prepared for what I’m going to do it this Sunday, Jan. 30. Bless its heart!

It’s great to know that so many people who will be participating in the marathon are doing it for a reason. Some, simply because they love running in marathons and others because it’s something they would have never done before if they didn’t have a reason.

My participation stems from my support for the Todd Krampitz Foundation, a foundation that raises awareness for organ and tissue donation.

There are just some things in life you are never ready for and this is one of them. But I do have more than one reason – my son and husband will be waiting for me at the finish line.

13 miles never looked so good!
