LifeGift Cheers on Olympian and Transplant Recipient As He Goes for Gold in Vancouver

LifeGift will follow the inspirational journey of Chris Klug, the 37- year-old snowboarder and liver transplant recipient, as he returns to the Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Just 19 months after a successful liver transplant, Klug won a bronze medal in 2002 in parallel giant slalom and is back in the action – this time, going for gold.

Klug was diagnosed with a rare liver disease known as primary sclerosing cholangtis – a disease which would have killed him if he hadn’t received a liver transplant.

He knows just how fortunate he is and wants to share the importance of organ donation and is proud to have such an amazing platform to spread the message – the Olympic Games. Chris's remarkable story is a true testimony of the quality of life that is possible post transplant – what a great way for him to celebrate his almost 10-year-anniversary of receiving a second chance at life.

Not only is Klug in it to win it in Vancouver, but he’s taken donor awareness to new heights in a new educational video as he and other donor recipients take on Mt. Ranier in a mountain climb that puts them one step closer to their mission.

He also has started a foundation – the Chris Klug Foundation – about the importance of organ and tissue donation and educating people the impact that just one person can have on so many lives. For more information, visit www.chrisklugfoundation.org.

LifeGift will be cheering on Klug as he competes in Vancouver on Feb. 27.
