Kim Thompson’s life has been full of silver linings. After four years of waiting, she received a lifesaving kidney. It came from 17-year-old Cody Grimes. Kim took the opportunity to express her gratitude for Cody’s gift when she met his family while being photographed for the 2003 LifeGift calendar. The Grimeses told Kim about Cody’s passion for the outdoors; Kim presented them with a dedication certificate of the star she had named after Cody.
In 2005, Kim received the other miracle she had been waiting for: a pancreas. With her new, healthier life, Kim now enjoys Harley adventures with her husband, Trent. But Kim’s favorite blessing has been the chance to give back. Her experience moved both her and Trent’s families to become donors. Both of their fathers have already passed on and given others life.
