Janice F. Whaley, MPH, CPTC, CTBS
Managing Director of Clinical Operations, Southeast Region
Janice Whaley has been involved in organ and tissue procurement for more than 19 years. Whaley served the Birmingham-based Alabama Organ Center for 11 of those years, joining the LifeGift team in November 2003.
As managing director of clinical operations, Whaley is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical organ and tissue recovery operations in the Southeast Region. A committed advocate for donation, she serves on several national boards and committees related to organ and tissue donation and recovery. She served as president of the American Society of Multicultural Health and Transplant Professionals in 2003 and is a member of the North American Association of Transplant Coordinators (NATCO) and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
Whaley graduated from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. She received a master’s degree in public health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Whaley currently is certified in both organ and tissue recovery through NATCO and the AATB, respectively.
