Charles T. Van Buren, M.D., serves as executive vice president and chief medical officer of LifeGift. A vocal advocate of donation, Dr. Van Buren is a member of the LifeGift board of directors and chairs its medical advisory committee.
Aprofessor of surgery at The University of Texas–Houston Medical School, Dr. Van Buren is a staff member at Memorial Hermann Hospital and serves as medical director of the renal transplant program at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. Additionally, he is a member of the Medical Review Board Committee for the End-Stage Renal Network of Texas, Inc. Dr. Van Buren has served on numerous editorial boards and published scores of articles in a variety of medical journals. He is a member of several national and international surgical and transplantation societies.
Dr. Van Buren received his bachelor of science degree from College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and his medical degree from The University of Pennsylvania. He is a renowned speaker on transplantation issues and has been author or co-author on more than 290 papers dealing with transplantation.
