The Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run takes place on Saturday, May 17 in the Stockyards

Fort Worth, Texas, April 28, 2014 — The Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run takes place on Saturday, May 17 in the Stockyards. Now in its 12th year, the run honors organ and tissue donors in more than 109 Texas counties in North, Southeast and West Texas. While celebrating the lives saved, and offering hope for those still waiting, the event raises awareness of the need for organ, eye and tissue donation across the state.

We expect close to 1,000 transplant recipients and donor family members to participate in this run. Among the participants will be Clutch, the NBA mascot for the Houston Rockets. The man behind the costume, Robert Boudwin, has a close connection to the cause in that his father received a lifesaving lung transplant in 2012 from a Fort Worth-area donor. His fellow NBA mascot companion, Champ, of the Dallas Mavericks, also will participate in the race.

The Donate Life Texas 2nd Chance Run will take place at the Fort Worth Stockyards, 130 East Exchange, Ave., Packers Avenue and 23rd Street – Lot 914, Fort Worth, Texas 76164. The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.
