Día de los Muertos Fun Run to Benefit LifeGift
Houston Fun Runs organizes community-centered 5K races and events in Houston. Each run benefits a local charity. This year, LifeGift was selected to be the beneficiary of the Día de los Muertos Fun Run, which takes place on Oct. 29.
Día de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is a holiday where the Hispanic community, or others who are interested, remember their loved ones and celebrate with some of that person’s most loved and comforting things in life: friends, family and food.
The Día De los Muertos Fun Run committee chose LifeGift as a beneficiary because of our emphasis on reaching the Hispanic communities and educating them on organ, eye and tissue donation – as 40 percent of those waiting for a transplant in Texas are Hispanic. It’s also a great opportunity for donor families to pay tribute to their loved ones in a culturally relevant way. For every registered runner, Houston Fun Runs will donate $3 to LifeGift.
Please join us to celebrate LIFE and learn about this cultural experience.
